Let's 'talk' about some famous Swedish inventions                                                         The Swedish Invention That Saves Lives: The Story of the Seatbelt When we think about car safety, the seatbelt is probably the first thing that comes to mind. This simple yet life-saving device has become a standard feature in every vehicle worldwide, and we have Sweden to thank for it. More specifically, we have Volvo, the Swedish car manufacturer, which made a remarkable decision that would save millions of lives. In 1959, Volvo engineer Nils Bohlin invented the three-point seatbelt. Before this, seatbelts were often cumbersome, using only two points of attachment, which made them less effective and uncomfortable to use.  Famous Swedes in the USA:                                                                                               Greta Garbo: The Swedish Star Who Became a Hollywood Legend

Greta Gustafsson began her acting career in Stockholm, Sweden, and at the age of 19, she was lured to the United States, adopting the stage name Garbo. Upon arriving in America, she made an immediate impact, starring in a series of successful films, and during the 1920s and 1930s, she was regarded as one of the greatest movie stars of the era.

Garbo was nominated for several Academy Awards but retired from acting at the young age of 37 in the early 1940s. The rest of her life was spent in seclusion in New York City, where she increasingly struggled with social phobias. After her breakthrough, she never gave another interview and lived a life shrouded in mystery until her death in 1990.

She discovered the small community in 1958 when she was introduced to the island of Dannholmen in the outer archipelago on the West Coast of Sweden, just outside the village Fjällbacka. From then on, she spent nearly every summer there, becoming deeply involved in the local life until cancer claimed her in 1982. Most of her ashes were scattered around Dannholmen.

I have personally visited this place many times and have seen her relatives there. I've spent many occasions at their dock, experiencing the same serene surroundings that she loved.

Warm United Regards Fredric
